The Blackwood plaintiffs have now reached a settlement of their claims with the City,
releasing the City and its officers. The parties have agreed that the protective orders should
expire as to the Blackwood plaintiffs effective July 1, 2022.
Thomas H. Roberts & Associates, PC is NO LONGER taking on clients from the June 1, 2020 Lee Monument Circle Protest.
Our constitutional rights were violated.
RPD continued to use tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets against peaceful protesters.
We brought justice & held the police accountable. Please go the Library of Virginia to review the archived materials!
On June 1, 2020, peaceful, kneeling demonstrators were chanting ‘hands-up don’t shoot’ with their hands in the air. These peaceful demonstrators were tear-gassed by Richmond police officers more than 20 minutes ahead of the 8 p.m. curfew.
This has to stop.
It is our 1st Amendment Right to peacefully protest and petition the government.
The police need to be held accountable.
Our investigation revealed this false narrative by RPD is just a flat out lie!
We are working to hold RPD accountable!
We took action.
We filed a civil rights lawsuit under the 1st, 4th, and 14th amendments to the United States Constitution.
This suit is about transparency and accountability. Hundreds—maybe thousands—of peaceful protesters were affected by the police actions on Lee Circle. We do not want silence.
