Our constitutional rights are being violated.
RPD continues to use tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets against peaceful protesters.
Let’s bring justice & hold the police accountable.
On June 1, 2020, peaceful, kneeling demonstrators were chanting ‘hands-up don’t shoot’ with their hands in the air. These peaceful demonstrators were tear-gassed by Richmond police officers more than 20 minutes ahead of the 8 p.m. curfew.
This has to stop.
It is our 1st Amendment Right to peacefully protest and petition the government.
The police need to be held accountable.
We are taking action.
We are filing a class action lawsuit under the 1st, 4th, and 14th amendments to the United States Constitution.
This suit is about transparency and accountability. Hundreds—maybe thousands—of peaceful protesters were affected by the police actions on Lee Circle. We do not want silence.
I was there. Should I be involved?
Absolutely, if you were at Lee Circle on June 1, 2020 to engage in a protected, First Amendment activity and witnessed, or were injured, or were threatened by RPD at any time in the ten minute period beginning when RPD openly trained firearms on the gathered assembly at around 7:32pm, please contact us to pre-register your claim.
How you can help!
Know anyone who was at the Lee protest when RPD gassed the peaceful participants? Share this with them so they so they can pre-register their claims in the class action against the police officers.
Let’s put an end to this.
Talk is cheap. Let’s hit them where it hurts: their pockets.
